Manchester City Step Up Push for Super Falcons Star Jennifer Echegini
**Manchester City are intensifying their efforts to sign Nigeria Super Falcons midfielder Jennifer Echegini from Paris Saint-Germain, with the WSL champions determined to get the deal over the line before the transfer window closes.
City have already seen several offers rejected by PSG, but the English champions have not given up on their pursuit of the 25-year-old midfielder.
According to The Guardian women’s football writer Tom Garry, Manchester City are still working to reach an agreement with PSG for Echegini before the Women’s Super League transfer deadline tonight.
PSG, however, remain keen to keep the Nigerian international. Echegini has one year remaining on her contract, putting the French club in a position where they must decide whether to resist City’s advances or cash in on one of their important players.
Since joining PSG in 2024, Echegini has established herself as a key figure in the Parisian midfield.
The move to Manchester would also represent a return to English football for the Super Falcons star. Echegini spent part of her youth career with **Charlton Athletic, Millwall and Arsenal before continuing her development abroad.
She later joined Juventus, where she enjoyed an impressive season, scoring 10 goals in 16 appearances before making the switch to PSG.
Echegini was also involved in PSG’s latest European assignment. The midfielder provided an assist as the French side cruised to a 5–1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Women’s Champions League playoff tie on Wednesday night.
With the transfer window closing tonight, all eyes are now on Manchester City and PSG as negotiations over one of Nigeria’s rising football stars enter a crucial stage.
Will Jennifer Echegini be wearing Manchester City colours when the window shuts? NistyFootball will bring you the latest.
